The Del Mar Historical Society is planning an epic 4-day Surfing Festival to celebrate Del Mar’s iconic role in the early days of surfing.

Other events include a Climate Symposium featuring speakers from Scripps Institute of Oceanography and Surfboard and clothing manufacturers discussing the sustainability of surfing and our beaches. There will also be a Surfwriter’s Book Fair, featuring local authors speaking about their books, a Student Art Show, Story Sessions with early So. Cal surfers, and much more.
Special Film Showing Just Added:
A new film by Jim Lischer: “Del Mar Surf History: Roots” will be shown on Sunday, October 11th at 5:00 pm at St. Peter’s Church Parish Hall. The film features stories and interviews with over 75 Del Mar surfers over the years, the first of its kind to document Del Mar surfing history. There will be a short film honoring Don Hansen that will be shown just before “Roots.” The event is free, but space is limited so you need to register.
